Out and about Standedge Tunnel Marsden Standedge Tunnel in Marsden has even more to offer this summer.... Art Exhibitions In July, this year Standedge are pleased to be a fringe host for Holmfifirth Art Week 7th -13th July. Artwork will be displayed within our recently refurbished Watersedge Caféé. www.holmfifirthartweek.org.uk Standedge is also very pleased to announce that we will be displaying canal art work exhibits by a practising waterway journeyman decorative painter Melanie Clare. www.canalartbymelanieclare.co.uk The pieces formed part of the Welcome to Yorkshire gold award winning show garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. Melanie provided a collection of items for designer Mark Gregory to ‘dress’ the interior of the lock keeper’s lodge. The collection was seen by all the judges and VIP visitors but remains one of the ‘secrets’ of the Welcome to Yorkshire garden, not viewed by the general public. As the lock gates which formed part of the garden were originally taken from Huddersfifield Narrow Canal, Standedge are very proud to have been invited to host this collection within our Visitors Centre this summer. Tunnel Trips During the school summer holidays from Monday 22nd July – 2nd September we will be offering our short 30-minute trip daily from 11am until 3pm. We will also be offering our Through Trip all the way through the 3.25-mile long tunnel on the following dates. • 7th July • 25th July • 4th August • 22nd August The journey will last 2 hours and provide an in-depth insight into the history of the 200 year old Tunnel. Summer Fair We will be holding our Summer Fair over the weekend of 31st August and 1st September 2019 There will be an array of stalls, including local crafts and food and lots of activities and fun planned for all the family.
