Weddings Annual meeting of Saddleworth Parish Council 2019 review The Annual meeting of Saddleworth Parish Council took place on Monday 20th May 2019 in the ballroom of the Civic Hall in Uppermill. Before the meeting the retiring Chairman, former Councillor Rob Knotts, distributed £11,000 which had been raised during his term of offifice to 31 local charities. He also presented a bouquet to his lovely wife, Lesley. Following prayers led by Revd. John Faraday, Mr Knotts opened the meeting and welcomed the councillors, members of the press and public and members of the chairman’s charity committee before handing over his chain of offifice to the new chairman, Councillor Jamie Curley who presided over the rest of the meeting, supported by the new Vice Chairman, Councillor Barbara Beeley to whom he presented the Vice Chairman’s chain of offifice. Councillor Curley presented Mr Retiring chairman Rob Knotts and his lady, Mrs Lesley Knotts with representatives of the 31 charities which received a donation from the Chairman’s Charity fund. The retiring Chairman’s Lady, Mrs Lesley Knotts, presented the new chairman’s wife, Debbie, with the Chairman’s Lady’s chain of offifice and Mrs Curley presented Retiring chairman Rob Knotts with new chairman Councillor Jamie Curley the past Vice Chairman’s Lady’s medal to Mrs Knotts and the Vice Chairman’s Lady’s medal to Val Sedgwick. Councillor Curley read aloud and signed the Chairman’s Declaration of Acceptance of Offifice, which was countersigned by the Parish Clerk, Pam Bailey. He then gave his opening address to the meeting which went down well. There are 20 councillors who represent the 6 Saddleworth wards. 11 of these have served for the previous 4 years and 9 were newly elected in May. One of the new councillors, Max Woodvine, is believed to be the youngest councillor in the country at just 18 years old. A reception was held after the meeting, the buffet being provided by the chairman’s charity committee.
