      POTS AND PANS WALK IMPORTANT
AS EVER TO LOCALS, 100 YEARS ON FROM THE END OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR
The annual walk up to the pots and pans memorial marks a century since the end
of WW1, and Saddleworth will continue to remember the sacrififices that were made for the freedom that we enjoy today.
but went on to say that:“since then, Britain has been involved in many other wars and fifields of Service, creating a continuous supply of Service men and women, and their families, who need our assistance.”
Once again this brings to the forefront the necessity and the continued relevance of remembrance and all of the Royal Legion’s work.
The service will take place at the Pots and Pans memorial on November 11th from 10:30 am, Paddy says that the Royal Legion is:“marking the centenary of the First World War from 2014 to 2018 with commemorations and projects in the UK and Republic of Ireland with a focus on Remembrance, education and legacy.”

The Royal British Legion are of course heavily involved in Armistice day. Chair of the Royal Legion’s Saddleworth branch, Paddy Diamond, was keen to highlight the importance of remembering those that lost their lives at war:“the Royal British Legion works to ensure that the people of the United Kingdom remember all those who have lost their lives on active service.”
Paddy then went on to say that: “Remembrance is a social benefifit which promotes social cohesion
and national unity and contributes to the fulfifilment of the Armed Forces.”
He also emphasised the importance of passing remembrance and it’s meaning on to future generations. Unfortunately, only 21 years after the end of the fifirst world war, Europe and the rest of the world were once again plunged into conflflict on a scale even greater than the fifirst. Paddy claims that the fifirst world war was thought of by participating nations as the war to end all wars at the time,
