We have just begun our Winter dressage series, kindly sponsored by Naylors. The Winter series is a stand alone competition allowing riders to gain more experience in more diffificult tests ahead of summer 2019.The riders will all put forwards their scores into a league table, and at the end of the series the winners will collect some amazing prizes donated by our sponsors.
together we aim to raise funds to maintain the arena site for public usage, including for dog walkers.
The highlight of our year so far was sending a host of local riders to compete at Stars championships. This competition was only eligible to our points champions, meaning that our riders were competing against top riding club champions at the Stars championships. The event was held at the prestigious Aintree racetrack & international event centre. All of our riders had a fabulous time, and we even came home with some very impressive prizes.
Notable mentions must go to Saskia Eccles, who braved a 3 am start to get her horse to the event for her 7.30 am class, Livs prior who came 4th in the junior equitation out of 40 UK champions, Fran Taylor who expertly presented her Dales pony Rosie (who is part of the UK’s endangered breed list), Emma Stewart who has nursed her horse back to exemplary health from a very complicated injury just 18 months ago, and fifinally Amber Hulley whose horse was noted by a top UK judge and was awarded a much sought after rising star award.
On behalf of Oldham & District Riding Club, we would like to thank all members, sponsors & contributors of 2018.
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a prosperous and happy New Year!
