EVERY DAY IS DIFFERENT IN FAMILY LAW Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisers have strengthened their Family team this summer with the appointment of solicitor Emma Kendall. A solicitor with 10 years experience Emma will be specialising in divorce and all aspects of matrimonial law with a Resolution friendly approach to clients, as well as considering closely the fifinancial implications of divorce for her clients moving forwards. Traditionally September is a busy time for family lawyers, summer holidays take their toll with the needs and expectations of families stretched over 6-8 week school holidays. Many families undertake that last family holiday or wait until the ‘new term’ to split and have a fresh start and so Emma expects a busy time ahead of her. Commenting on her new role Emma said: “I have always been interested in family law, every day is different and it makes a difference to people’s lives – helping them when they are at their lowest ebb. “I really am focussed on achieving the best result for my client but ensuring that it is dealt with in a respectful way and having worked in Oldham I always admired the way Pearson worked and wanting a new challenge it seemed the perfect opportunity to grow an expanding department.” She joins a team of 8 in the family department at Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisers, alongside specialist childcare and child proceedings solicitors, other divorce lawyers and supporting staff. The Oldham based fifirm, with offifices also in Tameside and Hollinwood, North Manchester, also has in house fifinancial advisers who work alongside the family team advising clients on pensions, as well as conveyancers and a Will team to help guide clients holistically through the divorce process. In the majority of cases there will be fifinancial matters which need to be resolved following divorce, matrimonial assets such as the marital home and other property, pensions and business interests may need to be re-distributed between the parties and consideration given to claims for maintenance. Lucinda came in the top 3 in her category and her colleague, Rebecca, also achieved additional success in the Children Law Accreditation Scheme, dealing with the areas of the law related to children. It is a recognised quality standard for practitioners representing children in children law proceedings.
