Dressed & Ready for the Midnight Wander

The much-loved Midnight Wander sponsored walk is back once more.

Open to men, women, boys and girls (and dogs!), it’s always been a lot of fun and is a great way to fundraise for Willow Wood.

As the name suggests, the walk sets off at midnight and follows a circular route back to Astley Sports Village where a welcome breakfast bap awaits.

“Obviously the pandemic has meant the cancellation of many of our fundraising activities.” Laura Marinelli, the event organiser said.  “We were unsure what our supporters would prefer, a virtual 10k, where they could walk the distance themselves anytime during September, or meet up at Astley Sports Village on Friday 11 September to have a socially distanced warm up and set off in their own social bubbles.  After holding a poll on social media, the vote was 70% in favour of meeting, so that’s what we’re going to do.”

Laura said: “We welcome dogs on the walk, although they won’t be allowed inside the sports centre, and one of our supporters has already sent in a photo of her dog Ruby all togged up in a pink feather boa and last year’s T-shirt! The photo really sums up the spirit of the walk – it’s such an enjoyable occasion.  We’re hoping for a massive turnout this year. Please join us and help Willow Wood continue to care.”
