A Day in the Life with Andy Baxter from HEH
Table of Contents
We recently sat down with Andy Baxter from HEH to chat about his work and how he relaxes.
How are you dealing with COVID in the workplace?
We adapted very early to this terrible situation as we are not the NHS but we still had to cover emergency for customers with no heating or hot water. With people in lockdown they needed these
services.
How did you get into the heating industry?
I joined British Gas from School as an apprentice based at Stalybridge, served my apprenticeship and graduated to a Service Engineer in 1983.
Why and when did you start your own business?
In 1996 I left British Gas and set up business on my own, it was a move that I always wanted as my dad and grandad had their own business.
Do you enjoy being the ‘boss’?
Very much so. I love the challenge, no day is ever the same especially in this industry. I have a great team around me.
What is a typical day for you?
My day usually starts the night before as we look at the forthcoming day’s work. After that its anything from enquiries, sales, programming, ordering materials, calling customers and forward
planning.
How do you relax in the evenings and at weekends?
I love to get out for a walk locally to clear the mind along with a visit to a local pub when possible.
Thanks, Andy it was great talking to you.
