THE DIGGLE HOTEL Enjoying a fresh lease of life in time for the Festive
Season
Saddleworth has many hidden treasures, but one in particular has been getting the taste buds wagging in the heart of Diggle.
The Diggle Hotel has been taken over by a passionate landlord who is aiming to place this historic Inn well and truly back on the culinary map.
Bill McCann has injected a fresh lease of life into the place after many years of success within the industry. He is currently applying his knowledge and enthusiasm into good use, along with the rest of the small team, to make The Diggle Hotel one of the great local destinations of choice. Its open plan and cosy interior, outside garden terrace and large private car park makes it the perfect setting for either an intimate dinner for two or a large private party.
As the Festive weather creeps ever nearer, we arrived at the quaint establishment, which exudes a unique charm and character. We were warmly welcomed by the charming Bill, who kindly showed us to our table situated by the window with lovely views of the
Saddleworth hills. We then began to peruse the mouth-watering menu on offer, created by Bill himself who has worked his culinary magic for many years. Obviously a man of many talents.
Bill has conjured up a new and exciting traditional menu which has something for absolutely everyone, including an impressive Specials Board, and a mouth watering local game pie (available Tuesday to Friday between 4pm - 8pm, Saturday 12 Noon - 8pm and Sundays 12 Noon - 7pm).
After a brief discussion with Bill about his recommendations, we were more than happy to go with the Steak Deal for £15 which looked fantastic.
On arrival, the steak platters were certainly
plentiful, so make sure you’ve got a healthy
appetite before embarking on this culinary
adventure. The rib-eye steaks were cooked to
perfection and were well complimented by
home cooked chips, portabello mushrooms and fresh tomatoes. There was even a side plate of additional seasonal vegetables as well baked cauliflflower cheese which was unexpected but a tasty side dish.
To fifinish off the feast, we simply enjoyed one of the fantastic wines on offer, even though a delicious looking desserts menu was offered to us.This was certainly a great culinary adventure to remember, and up there with the very best. Certainly one to try this Festive season.
One thing you can guarantee at The Diggle Hotel is incredible value for money with the Menu of the Day offering two courses for only £15.
Alongside the new menu, a fabulous Sunday Roast option is there for you all to enjoy, including a great Children’s menu....and don’t forget....Christmas Bookings are now being taken with a Festive Menu running alongside a changing specials board.
For those in need of a place to stay, then there are four ensuite bedrooms available. There is also a Quiz Night every Thursday from 9pm with some great prizes up for grabs.
