By Alistair Cochrane Alexander Smalley, Saddleworth’s Very Own Master Distiller. The Creator of the Doctor’s Favorite Gin says there’s much more to come from the Saddleworth Distillery. In only six months, the Doctor’s Favorite has spread to bars and pubs around Saddleworth and its neighbouring areas of Tameside and the Tame Valley. The brain behind Saddleworth Distillery, Alexander Smalley, says that the Doctor’s Favorite gin can go even further: “Doctor’s was made to expand, what I’m looking to do is start it local in order to gauge the reception, and so far, it has been phenomenal. Local businesses have been really supportive as well.” Smalley also describes himself as a mad scientist, and claims that he sees the potential for new flflavours everywhere: “I get in a mindset when I’m walking down the aisle of a supermarket and see some unique botanicals or fruits and it gets me thinking about how I can use it? I’m seeingthepotentialforgineverywhere. “It’s getting to be an issue because I want to try so much but I have to reign myself in.” While the expansion of Saddleworth distillery into a nationally sold gin, is the ultimate goal for Smalley, the mindset of local businesses helping each other out will be key to the distillery’s success. It isn’t just random experimentation at Saddleworth Distillery though, Smalley has a Masters in chemical biology from the Imperial college in London. The Distiller then went on to explain that while the ideas for flflavours are purely creative, there is a huge need for his scientifific knowledge when extracting This is even true to the extent that Smalley has teamed up with a local pub in order to create a bespoke gin, that the flflavours into his gin: “My scientifific Christmas Menu represents the area in the best possible Available 1st - 31st DecembsecralCinhgriisttmuaps wDiatyh CflflLowOSrEaDtes of the Monday to Thursday 12.00v-a3p.o0u0rpsm, and 5t.e0m0pteor9a.t0u0rpesm and back ground really comes in when I’m Friday,Saturday&Scuondcaenyt1ra2t.0io0n-s.9.00pItm’s all about way.
