Marsden
Marsden is the place to visit at the moment; the new community group Positively Marsden is going full steam aiming to bring more people to Marsden and the surrounding areas.
Marsden has just had another fantastic Jazz festival and new shops and cafes have popped up all along the main street.
Positively Marsden wants to make the most of the new developments,‘We wanted to show off what Marsden has to offer, not only some brilliant shops, places to eat and drink but we also have a wealth of stunning scenery for walkers and tourists, the canal along with Standedge Tunnel visitors centre and the National Trust visitor exhibition room, all on our doorstep’ said Roxanne from Lily Blossom flflowers and gifts, one of the founding members of Positively Marsden.
‘We’ve got lots of plans in place for the next year, we want to create a gateway into the village including a large mural showing off our history and what to fifind here, we’ve also got plans for flflag poles along the street to
showcase various events throughout the year, Jazz festival, Cuckoo Day, Imbolc, but also for decoration, we want to make this village look it’s best’, and so does the rest of the community it would seem after an early September ‘Big Clean’ was organised.
The response we got was fantastic, so many people came out to clean up not only the main street but along their own residential streets and local parks, it really gave everyone a sense of pride in their village.
