Jazz Festival are now on sale!
This year’s Marsden Jazz Festival runs from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th October, and tickets for the award-winning festival are now on sale.
Headliners include the all-female Crissy Lee Orchestra, re-imaginings of 70s and 80s pop hits with the Beverley Beirne Quintet, Snake Davis Trio, Shirley Tetteh’s brand new commission just for the festival, and Mercury Prize 2019 nominees SEED Ensemble, who will bring the festival to a close at 6pm on the Sunday evening.
The festival has also made it through to thefifinaloftheprestigiousParliamentary Jazz Awards in London and has been shortlisted in the Venue of the Year category alongside jazz clubs in Bristol, Dorking and Brighton. The winners will be announced in November.
Marsden Jazz Festival attracts thousands of visitors each year and takes place in 25 venues across the village of Marsden - it’s impossible to visit over the festival weekend and not know that the festival is happening!
The headline venues at the festival are the Concert Stage where seated concerts with an interval will be held; the Club Stage, the more informal venue where you can dance the night away with friends; and the New Stream Stage, for those who like their jazz a bit edgy and unpredictable.
Other venues include pubs and clubs, two churches, a youth stage in the park, and an outdoor stage on a bridge over the River Colne.
There are also a number of performances by youth groups on the dedicated youth stage, the Bandstand in the Park as well as events for families. These include the very popular Street Parade and Band Battle, as well as a workshop with musicians from Leeds College of Music, musical adventure events in Tunnel End Woods, and a concert for children on the Club Stage at the Mechanics.
The Market in the Park will also return to Marsden Park for another year, featuring local arts and crafts alongside live music, as well as a new Street Food Alley by St Bartholomew’s Church, which will serve food and drink throughout the daytime and evening at the festival - keeping visitors well-nourished for a day of jazz exploration.
In short - there’s something for everyone at Marsden Jazz Festival.
There’s a limited 20% early bird discount on selected tickets. See www. marsdenjazzfestival.com/whats-on for more details and to book tickets.
