A familiar face was up next. Joe Carnall, formally of Milburn and current lead singer of Good Cop Bad Cop graced us with his presence on the Spinning Rooms stage. His set was just electric, holding onto a fully packed out tent throughout with his exciting new tunes and engaging banter. This is the one I was most excited for and oh boy, he did deliver. As I walked out of Spinning Rooms, heading to the bar, my head gets turned by an ‘effifing and jeffifing’ reverend on the stage....Oh My God! It’s The Church are one of the best fifinds of 2019 - offensive, hilarious, cringe-worthy, they were magnifificent. Everyone around me is dancing and singing along, and I couldn’t help but join in. I remember saying after, ‘What the hell did I just watch? Where can I watch them again?’ BBC Radio and Television legend, Mark Radcliffe and his ‘band’ UNE were just something else. And I’m not sure in what way I mean that. His Bowie cover, brilliant. His banter in between songs, hilarious.Worth the below-par original music that you could never tell if they wrote as a joke or not? Undecided. Reverend and The Makers turned the volume up to 100. No one could resist bopping along to the tunes of the ‘Heavyweight Champion of The World’ hitmakers. John McClure is a natural in front of a crowd, getting what looked like every single one of the 5000 people at the festival moving, engaging with the audience in a way that made everyone feel included, forcing every single person to fall in love with them in less than an hour. The true winners of the night were Hyde Park Brass. Only in Saddleworth, home of the Whit Friday Brass Band Contests would a brass band draw in such a crowd. Stretching seven or eight rows out of the Spinning Rooms tent, the Leeds based band get started with their outstanding set, playing dance and Saturday Images on this page by Nick Maw pop bangers, one after the other until we were all at their mercy. non-believers converted, the tent was alive with dance, people jumping and raving, losing their mind to possibly be the best brass band in the world. As the day drew to a close, everyone’s attention was set on the Main Stage. The Wailers were headlining, and it couldn’t have been a more ideal choice.Through the madness of the day, so many genres, ups, downs, dancing and swaying, The Wailers gave us a much- needed chill pill. Closing on a day that we could never forget, we were treated to all of the classics, one love, We Jammin’, Redemption Song, and so many more that fifilled our hearts with joy and would end up acting as the sign off at the end of a festival that had been oh so good to us.
