      FA GROWING THE CLUB
– 3D DYNAMOS
NEW - Saddleworth 3Ds Football School for 7-12 year olds – Better Never Stops
With the new committee in place, 3D Dynamos have developed a twelve- month strategy and are working on longer term plans for growing the Saddleworth-based football club. Lesley Milne (Club Secretary) and Howard Gaunt (Club Treasurer) recently attended an FA workshop to assist in ‘Growing the Club’. Following a debrief at the subsequent committee meeting, approval was given to set up a new Saddleworth 3Ds Football
School for 7-12 year olds; adding to the long running Soccer School for 4-6 year olds. This will commence in September at Waterhead Academy from 7.00-8.00pm and is open to boys and girls of any ability, whether they are already a member of the club or not. If you are interested then please feel free to contact John Lees (Under 10s Coach) or Lesley Milne for further details.
3D Dynamos 1st and Reserves on the move to the Lancashire Amateur League
Another initiative of the twelve- month strategy was to move the adult section of the club into the Lancashire Amateur League and onto pastures new. Steve Laithwaite (1st Team Manager and Chair) and Neil Beevor (Reserve Team Manager) see this as a big step forward and are looking forward to the challenges ahead. Steve said ‘After a successful eight-year spell in the Huddersfifield League - a league title and three cup wins - we felt it
was the right time for a change. New shirt (Saddleworth Round Table) and Match Day training tops (The Gate Inn, Diggle), different teams, new grounds to visit and with the current squad of players we believe both teams can make a quick transition and rise to the new challenges. Pre-season started on Monday 1 July and the season commenced on Saturday 17 August for the 1st team with a trip away at Wardle FC, with the reserves facing Accrington Amateurs at Firgrove on Saturday 31 August.

SADDLEWORTH VILLAGE OLYMPICS
  2019 Preview
Not long to go now before the 34th ‘Saddleworth Village Olympics’ get underway and the excitement and tension is rising! Around 1000 children will compete across 18 disciplines in 7 ‘village’ teams covering the 13 villages that make up Saddleworth. Children will pit themselves against their friends and neighbours to win points for their village or their school’s village, with the village(s) with the highest points claiming victory in each discipline and one overall winning village in both the junior and senior categories.
Children from all of the Saddleworth villages have been training hard, making new friends, having fun and trying new sports since June (some even through the winter and spring) and are ready to give it all their all to win medals for themselves and their village team.
The Saddleworth Village Olympics kick off with an opening ceremony, which this year will have a very different feel about it....with a brass band, coloured flflags and gymnastic ribbons, cheerleaders, the coming together of the seven Olympic Rings
and a little surprise! The Village Olympics don’t organise or fund themselves and we’re delighted to have received help and very generous support from local businesses in Saddleworth and Oldham to make the event extra special this year.
This year we’re especially pleased to welcome the Saddleworth Round Table as our main sponsor for the Village Olympics, and as part of this partnership they will have a tent at the opening ceremony promoting their winter activities, including the Oktober Pie fest and Santa dash. Matthew Sykes from the Round Table commented “This event is unique and really engages children of all ages and abilities to get involved in sporting activities across all villages and shows just how important our communities are”.
Adrian Green, Chairman of the Saddleworth Village Olympics welcomed the Support saying “the work and effort that goes in to making the 3 weeks of competition a success if nothing short of phenomenal. We just couldn’t achieve this without the

efforts of the committee, the coaches, the parents, the enthusiasm of the children or the support of organisations like the Round Table, so thank you - You’re amazing!”

or would like to suggest any other funding raising ideas then they should e-mail svogames@gmail.com
