The Suit is back!……. and guess what? It doesn’t have to be a plain navy.
By Philip Buckley (Owner of Buckley Menswear, Rochdale)
After years of austerity that caused both manufacturers and retailers to play it safe and then the influence of programs such as ‘Peaky Blinders’, we are definitely seeing a huge resurgence in men’s tailoring. As we evolve from the tweed 3 Piece as worn by the Shelby brothers, we find it’s still the checks but definitely with a bit of colour.
A prom, a wedding or a day at the races we don’t need a big excuse to get suited and booted.
Cost-wise, the Suit has become much more affordable. You can get a very on-trend suit for around £100 on the high street. But if you’d like a bit of quality and service then stick to a good local independent.
This way you can expect the suit to be tailored to your exact measurements. You can also include some basic alterations like sleeve length or trouser length being included in the price. It’s still the pure wool cloths, usually from England or Italy that are the best and these will give you a suit that’s more of an investment. However, if it’s just a suit for a wedding or a day at the races then you can make more of a statement with a more high fashion cut and invest less without the worry of it sat in the wardrobe for months on end.
Buckley Menswear sits proudly on Rochdale’s historic South Parade. Buckley recognised by Drapers Independent Awards which celebrate the best fashion retailers and brands across the UK and Ireland.
