On Thursday 20th June, the glamourous ladies of Saddleworth congregated together at various venues across the area to enjoy the annual Ascot Ladies Day festivities. With plenty of winners and losers (but mainly winners we’re sure), everyone who turned out looked fabulous in outfifits worthy of Ascot itself. We caught up with the ladies at The White Hart in Lydgate, Saddleworth Rangers Rugby Club and Manchester Golf Club, who once again made it an occasion to remember. 145 ladies were in attended the 14th annual event at the White Hart to raise funds for Dr. Kershaw’s Hospice. The atmosphere was fantastic with many winners on the day, but the charity was the main winner as a total of over £3,000 was raised which is fantastic. Special guest Lady Mayoress was in attendance as guests enjoyed drinks on arrival sponsored by Judith Rothwell, followed by a 3 course lunch at midday followed by coffee and chocolates. Gill Bussey was on hand to make sure the day ran smoothly along with Brian Hurst and Joanne Penketh. After lunch the bookie arrived to take bets in the pavilion, which was followed by an auction, sale of jewellery, shoes ladies clothes, entertainment from Tony Issacs vocal entertainer, afternoon tea at 4pm, before then more singing and dancing. “It was another fantastic day.” Organiser Gill Bussey told us.“I know I say it every year but this really was the best yet. I’m thankful for all the support we still get every year and it’s great that Dr. Kershaws Hospice receive a substantial cheque at the end of it.” All in all a superb day was had by all, and the team are no doubt busing planning next years events already..... so watch this space! At the Christie Allsorts annual day, a packed room of 120 ladies enjoyed the fun, entertainment, horse racing, rafflfle prizes and great food supplied by Little Deerhill Catering. There was also close hand magic by Rob Ellam and the whole day was superbly compered by David Broadbent of 2811 Events & Sport Media. The team are thankful also to Karen Thompson of Saddleworth Rangers for her continued support and Jackie Dijon who supported the event with entertainment including the Magic Mirror Man. Special thanks must also go to the Murphy Family for their overwhelming generosity. This years Best Dressed Lady including Hat Wear was won by Chris Makinson. The whole day raised a whopping £4,545.00, so well done to everyone involved. Bookings were already being taken on the day for 2020, which goes to show that another local event is going from strength to strength.
