Uppermill Summer Music Festival 2019 Music lovers are now eagerly looking forward to this year’s Uppermill Summer Music Festival which again promises to be a fantastic 11 days of music-making in Uppermill next month. The schedule is packed with International artistes and emerging young professional musicians, with something to suite all tastes. The Festival opens on Wednesday 3rd July with a concert given by the internationally renowned Endellion String Quartet playing Haydn and Schubert. Currently celebrating their 40th anniversary, the quartet regularly perform in concert halls around the world, so it is a huge honour that they have agreed to come to Uppermill. Another highlight includes a visit by the BBC Young Musician of the Year, sensational pianist Lauren Zhang (pictured), in a Coffee concert playing Beethoven, Brahms and Chopin (Sat 6th July). Lauren was catapulted into the limelight on winning the 2018 Competition at the tender age of 16 and is now in demand as soloist throughout the UK and further afifield: future engagements include dates with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, London Mozart Players and European Union Chamber Orchestra. Destined for a lasting career, don’t miss her visit to Uppermill. There will also be a special dramatized concert performance of Mozart’s ever-popular The Magic Flute, presented by London’s Little Opera Group; performances by the Manchester Rennaissance Choir and the A4 Brass Quartet; a programme of Viennese violin music from Sophie Rosa; and an evening of Jazz standards from the American Songbook with the Jim Muirhead Jazz Quartet. The celebrations come to a close on Saturday 13th July with the 12 Ensemble, one of the UK’s leading string orchestras playing Grieg and Tchaikovsky. A bold, versatile and virtuosic ensemble, the group is built around a core of twelve of London’s fifinest and most exhilarating chamber musicians. It will surely be a night to remember!
