Saddleworth Golf Club Ace Fest Continues

SADDLEWORTH Golf Club has enjoyed several members bagging holes in one during the COVID lockdown and two more were added to the long list in recent competitions.

And for Mike Jackson and Kevin Rafferty, they were their first-ever aces to set up some celebrations of their well-received achievements.

Mike enjoyed his ace in a Tuesday competition on the 10th hole when his sweetly struck hybrid six wood went unerringly into the hole.

Mike, who plays off ten handicaps and has been a member of the club for over 20 years, said: “Our pro-Andrew Earlam wants to take some credit for the ace for the new shoes he sold to meet that enabled me to keep my balance better on the tee!.

“The clubhouse was shut on the day but I was able to buy suitable amber nectar for members to celebrate the ace a week later.”

The next one came a few days later in a Four Person Team Stableford from Kevin Rafferty.

Kevin’s came early in the round on the second hole with a finely-struck 6-iron which he hit with a ‘baby.draw’ that was the perfect shape to record the ace.

Again there were plenty of après golf celebrations for the 15-handicapper’s maiden ace.
