Sorella: Your Mediterranean Brunch, Lunch & Dinner experts
After a great first few months, Sorella in Uppermill has been satisfying the masses with their unique Italian flavours on Uppermill High Street and the Hoxha family are looking forward to a great 2020.
Having already enjoyed success with their Mazzo and Vicino venues in Royton, the family owners are certainly establishing themselves as a popular spot for diners looking to enjoy delicious, authentic food from the Mediterranean.
They carry a wide selection of Italian beers, red wines, white wines, rose wines and, of course, prosecco. There is a drink to compliment every dish on the menu! For the more adventurous, their cocktail list is small but perfectly executed. Enjoy their twists on classic cocktails you know and love.
Sorella is run by Atdhetare, younger sister to her older brothers who take care of Mazzo and Vicino in Royton. With a stylishly simple and fresh look, the restaurant oozes city chic and is a great place to spend a relaxing time with family and friends.
With a large kitchen, Sorella can meet the demand for 40 people seated inside the restaurant, as well as another 20 plus outside on the terrace, which will be enhanced in time for spring.
Having already enjoyed a fantastic brunch at Sorella which included baked eggs in fresh tomatoes and spinach, as well as a Big breakfast with all your favourite trimmings. A smaller version of the breakfast is available for those with a smaller appetite. The dishes were accompanied by a glass of buck fizz which made our visit more special.
A week later, before the Christmas rush ensued, we went back to sample the much talked about dinner menu, and we weren’t disappointed.
With an extensive selection of Mediterranean classics on offer, our choices were assisted by the Sorella team.
For starters we opted for the Bruschetta: with vine ripened tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic & onions, Capesante: scallops, truffles, cauliflower purée with a Parmesan crisp, as well as the Caprese Di Bufala: vine tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil drizzled with olive oil. All three tasted fresh and simply fantastic.
For the main courses we were advised to sample the Chef’s Special Trio of Pasta, which at only £14.95, including a glass of wine, represents great value. The trio of dishes included Linguine Pescatori, Rissoto Fungi and a Penne Arabbiata. All fabulous!
For the other dishes we were tempted by the Lamb Agnello, lamb rump, gnocchi, wilted greens, tomato rosemary and fresh mint, as well the Special Fresh Cod served on a bed of broad beans and crispy pancetta. Again, incredible flavours and presentation.
Although we were satisfied, we couldn’t resist going for a small selection of the desserts on offer which included the Tiramisu, Homemade brownies and a Lemon cheesecake with Limoncello.
A perfect end to a fantastic dining experience.
Sorella is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am-9pm offering breakfast & brunch until 2.30pm, a lunch menu, and then dinner from 5pm.
