Have you ever fancied being the captain of your own boat? To spend the day exploring some of the areas beautiful waterways and taking in the view?

Well now is your chance, thanks to Portland Basin Marina Boat Hire in Dukinfield. With their 32ft self drive narrow boats (Mary & Alice) available to use throughout the year and the chance to explore the lower Peak Forest canal on an eight mile lock-free stretch from Portland Basin to Marple, there really is no better way to spend time with family, friends and colleagues.

You are invited to experience the canal’s unique rural environment which includes many interesting architectural features along the way, such as the impressive Marple aquaduct and other notable bridges and tunnels. Both boats can accommodate up to nine people and you really are guaranteed a memorable day out.

If you find the idea of navigating a boat a bit daunting then fear not as full safety instructions and useful tips will be provided prior to departure. Then once you’ve got the hang of it, all you have to do is kick back and enjoy the surroundings. Each boat is equipped with a two burner hob, sink and crockery, flushing toilets and seating both in the cabin and on the front and rear decks. On cooler days the cabins can be heated for your comfort.
