Emmaus community members “Bare All” for charity calendar

Community members from homelessness charity Emmaus Mossley have teamed up to “bare all” in a revealing charity calendar in support of Prostate Cancer UK.

The 2020 calendar features a host of Emmaus Mossley residents and staff in various locations throughout the Secondhand Superstore and community building. The calendar aims to raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer UK and promote positive body image amongst males.

Paul Barnes is one of the people who lives and works at Emmaus Mossley and who features in the month of February.

Paul said: “The calendar is a bit of fun and all for a good cause. It’s great to be able to support another charity that is close to men’s hearts.”

Prostate Cancer UK is the UK’s largest men’s health charity. The charity campaigns and offers support to help more men survive prostate cancer. Funds allow research into causes and treatments, and raise the profile of the disease and works to improve care.

Harry Barlow, Community Leader of Emmaus Mossley, said: “I was delighted to be involved after the idea was first raised amongst our community. As well as supporting a worthy cause, the calendar also promotes positive body image and has benefitted the individuals featured by improving their confidence.”

Emmaus Mossley supports 26 formerly homeless people by providing them with a home and work in a community setting. The concept of solidarity, getting involved in volunteering and helping groups in need, is a central ethos of Emmaus and a motivation for those who took part in the calendar project.

The calendar is now available from the Emmaus Mossley Secondhand Superstore priced at £5 and all the proceeds raised will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK.
