Saturday 14th September saw thousands of the regions locals line the streets to watch this year’s Tour of Britain as it powered through Tameside, Saddleworth and Shaw.

Flag waving youngsters cheered and waved as riders took advantage of the slopes as they raced down Huddersfield Road before going along a packed Uppermill High Street and then towards Delph, which included a gruelling climb over Grains Bar and down through Shaw. They then past Crompton Way and Rochdale Road on their way to the finish in Manchester City Centre.

Mathieu van der Poel reiterated his billing as the hottest talent in professional cycling as he was crowned the 2019 OVO Energy Tour of Britain champion.
